The difference between a severe watch and a warning is similar to baking a batch of cookies!

A severe thunderstorm watch or tornado watch is equivalent to gathering all the ingredients needed to bake a batch of cookies. We have the ingredients ready for the cookies, or in this case, a strong thunderstorm! A watch means conditions are favorable for strong storms developing.

This when you need to make a plan for what “could” potentially happen, like finding your place.

A severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is your finished product. They are like your finished batch of cookies. A tornado or severe thunderstorm is happening “NOW,” you need to take action and get to your safe place.
