Gov. Walz surprises Winona State University students

WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) – Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz made a surprise visit to Winona State University on Thursday, Sept. 17.

Students said they had received an email announcement earlier in the day that a special guest would be visiting.

Gov. Walz spoke in several classrooms. Students described his message as one of hope for the next generation. Acacia Ward stated he paid a visit to her environmental studies class.

“What I got out of his message was really that we need to work together to understand our differences and disagreements when it comes to the environment and then together with those differences,” Ward said.

Following his visit to the university, Walz stopped by a local bakery.

Walz is also set to be a keynote speaker at the Youth Leadership and Success Summit for Olmsted County high school students next Wednesday.
