MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KTTC) – The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office says “agitators” are damaging property outside the Whipple Building in Minneapolis, and Deputies are currently at the scene in an attempt to “maintain public safety.”

Many individuals are reportedly protesting peacefully, however, the sheriff’s office says “agitators” are engaging in “unlawful behavior,” including the damaging of property.

This resulted in a Deputy being struck in the head and a squad vehicle windshield being broken, with the sheriff’s office stating this was “not the first time” that its vehicles were damaged at this location.

Due to these actions, the sheriff’s office said it has requested help from metro partner agencies, with Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota DNR responding.

The sheriff’s office added that an unlawful assembly has been declared and dispersal orders were issued, meaning individuals must leave the area immediately. Failure to comply will result in “enforcement action.”

Lastly, the sheriff’s office stressed its top priority is public safety.
