The Fools Five Road Race and Auction was underway on Saturday, and this year, the auction was reportedly able to raise more than $100,000 for cancer research.
These funds will stay locally, benefitting cancer researchers from Mayo Clinic, the Hormel Institute, and the Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota.
Mayo Clinic Dermatologist Dr. Alexander Meves was the recipient of the Eagles Cancer Telethon Research Fund Award in 2018. This financial support provided a boost to his study on melanoma.
Supporting the Fifth District Eagles Cancer Telethon, the Carpenter, IA, Community Center is hosting a three-day pool tournament for youth and adults alike.
All proceeds from the event are donated to the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center, and Hormel Institute.
The auditions will be held at the Rochester Eagles Club on October 20, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. No reservations are required and it’s open to people of all ages.
