The 86th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally begins Friday
STURGIS, S.D. (KTTC) – Friday is the start of the 86th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.
The 10 days of races, concerts and motorcycle rides across Sturgis and the Black Hills draws hundreds of riders every year.
Music is a major draw, some of the big acts include Lynyrd Skynyrd and Lainey Wilson.
Harley-Davidson will also debut a new motorcycle.
Minnesotans traveling to the rally are asked to be extra cautious on I-90 through southern Minnesota.
Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation say there are several active work zones on the route, including construction near Rochester, Austin and Winona.
With motorcycle deaths up sharply this year, state officials are urging everyone to slow down and stay safe on the roadway.
Before you head out to the event, you can always check current Minnesota road conditions and travel advisories on MnDOT’s 511 page.
The 86th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally runs through August 16.
