Woman convicted in murder of Minneapolis DJ sentenced
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KTTC) – A woman convicted of killing a Minneapolis DJ learned her fate on Thursday during her sentencing in Hennepin County.
Margot Lewis will spend 40 years in prison for the murder of Liara Tsai. Tsai was killed in June 2024 after Lewis stabbed her to death inside her Minneapolis apartment.
Lewis then crashed the car she was driving on I-90 near Eyota; all the while Tsai’s body was in the back seat of the car.
A jury found Lewis guilty of second-degree murder in September. The court’s subsequent sentence went beyond regular guidelines, as the jury found aggravated sentencing factors.

According to the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Lewis will serve her sentence at the correctional facility in St. Cloud. She still faces a conviction in Olmsted County for concealing a body.
