Joe Mauer inducted into Baseball Hall of Fame

(KTTC) – Former Twins’ Catcher and homegrown superstar Joe Mauer was officially inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame Tuesday.
The St. Paul native spent all 15 of his seasons in Major League Baseball with the Twins, where he was a lifetime .306 hitter. Throughout his career, he amassed 2,123 hits to go along with 143 home runs and 923 runs batted in (RBI).
As a catcher, Mauer collected hardware for his contributions both at the plate and behind it. He was a six-time MLB All Star, a five-time Silver Slugger, and three-time Gold Glove winner.
Mauer won the American League’s Most Valuable Player Award in 2009, where he hit .365 with 28 home runs and 96 RBI in 138 games. He finished top-ten in MVP voting on three other occasions.
Mauer won three batting titles as a Twin, the most by a catcher all-time.
Mauer retired in 2018. His number 7 jersey was retired by the Twins’ franchise in 2019. Mauer was inducted into the Twins’ Hall of Fame in July, 2023.
Mauer joins Rod Carew and Kirby Puckett as the third player in Twins’ franchise history to be a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer.
