UPDATE: One dead in Wanamingo house fire
UPDATE: WANAMINGO, Minn. (KTTC) – One person died Monday night in a house fire in Wanamingo.
According to Goodhue County Sheriff, authorities responded to a report of a house fire at approximately 9:40 p.m. Monday night.
Authorities say, the occupants of the house were in bed when they smelled something burning, and attempted to leave the house. Monica Siegle thought her husband was behind her, but he was still inside.
Monica ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911 and alert the neighbor that her husband was still inside. The neighbor attempted to enter the house but was met by black smoke.
The Wanamingo Fire/Rescue Department arrived on scene shortly after and began fighting the fire and ventilating the home. The husband was located in the residence a short time later.
Life saving measures were administered on scene but Jay Siegle, 56, was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Monica Siegle was transported to St. Mary’s for evaluation.
The fire is not considered suspicious but the Fire Marshall’s Office responded to determine the cause of the fire.

WANAMINGO, Minn. (KTTC) – Crews are responding to a fire at the 500 Block Braget Circle.
Wanamingo Fire and Rescue, Goodhue County Sheriff, as well as Zumbrota Area Ambulance are on the scene.
Calls went out for responders shortly after 9:30 p.m.
