ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The Mayo Clinic Blood Center is asking community members to step up and donate blood. Right now, the center is in dire need of AB blood type donations.
Anyone in the community, who is 16 years of age or older, can donate at two different sites. Folks can make blood donations at the Mayo Clinic Hilton Building on the first floor, or at the St. Marys Campus.
All life saving donations will go toward people in Olmsted County and surrounding communities. To make an appointment, call 507-284-4475. According to the center, many same day blood donation appointments are available, but calling before hand is still a requirement.
If you have donated within the past 12 weeks, you are not eligible to donate. A 12-week period between donations allows the body to maintain healthy iron levels.
