ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Snowfall accumulation is expected across the entire area Friday

How can we improve on the gorgeous, mild sunshine we experienced on Wednesday? Well, we can’t but we’ll still enjoy some pretty decent weather for our Thursday with temperatures running about ten degrees above the seasonal standard. Expect occasional sunshine throughout the day with high temperatures will be in the lower 30s. That’s about ten degrees colder than Wednesday’s high of 42 degrees but still warmer than 22 degrees that is today’s seasonal average. A slight northwest breeze will reach 10 miles per hour at times giving us wind chill indices in the 20s.

We'll have occasional sunshine and clouds throughout the day with high temperatures in the 30s.

Light snow will develop around sunrise on Friday with snowfall rates picking up a bit in the midday and early afternoon. Snowfall will continue until the late evening when the storm system pushes southward into southwestern Iowa. At this point, it looks like Rochester will measure two to five inches of snowfall while areas to the west, especially along and west of Interstate 35, including Albert Lea and Mason City will end up with five to eight inches of snow, and areas to the east closer to the Mississippi River will see two inches or less. High temperatures tomorrow will be around 20 degrees with a gusty east breeze that will reach 25 miles per hour, keeping wind chill values in the single digits for the most part.

Snowfall may reach several inches for accumulation on Friday.

High pressure will bring bright, seasonably cold sunshine for Saturday with high temperatures in the mid-teens and a light northeast wind.

Sunday is looking slightly breezier with occasional sunshine and clouds and high temperatures will be in the mid-20s.

After Friday's snowfall, we'll have colder, sunnier weather this weekend.

Temperatures over the next week will slowly drop off from the seasonably chilly mid-20s Monday and Tuesday to the teens and then single digits from Wednesday through Friday as Arctic air slowly pours into the region once again. There will be a slight chance of light snow Tuesday with plenty of sunshine for the days that follow.

Temps will be much colder later next week as Arctic air returns for a while.
