Olmsted Medical Center updates mask requirement starting Jan. 10
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Olmsted Medical Center (OMC) will require anyone who enters an OMC building to wear a specific type of mask starting on Monday, Jan. 10.
The hospital made the announcement in a Facebook post, Thursday. OMC has required masks since March of 2020 but under the new policy, any employee, vendor, patient or visitor will be asked to wear a surgical mask upon entrance into any OMC building. If needed, OMC will provide masks to people who need them.
The hospital says surgical masks provide more protection than a single layer cloth mask, including towards the Omicron variant, which has been shown to be more contagious than other virus strains.
