Man arrested for burglary, property damage in Southeast Rochester
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – A man is in custody after a burglary in Southeast Rochester.
It started on Sunday, December 19, after 5 p.m. at a property on 7th Avenue Southeast that out-of-town homeowners were renovating.
According to the Rochester Police Department (RPD), the owners noticed the home had been broken into. The owners said they had put barricades up to prevent break-ins from happening.
When officers checked the scene, they found clothing and bedding inside that did not belong to the homeowners.
Police then re-secured the home with new barricades. When they returned on Monday, December 20, they found Matthew Tlougan, 28, of Rochester, hiding inside and arrested him.
RPD said Tlougan stripped all of the wiring from inside and started burning the plastic casing from it. Damage is estimated at $20,000.
Tlougan is charged with second degree burglary and first degree damage to property.
