Rochester’s ‘Here Comes Santa Claus’ Event returns
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – On Friday, a standing holiday tradition continued.
“Hi Santa, ho, ho, ho Santa. Hows your Christmas?” said kiddos Willow and Noah.
The brother and sister were among at least a hundred others who came to downtown Rochester for the Here Comes Santa Claus annual event.
“It’s been going on 40 plus years,” said Kanika Couchene, Rochester Downtown Alliance Director of Events.
“It makes me feel more into the Christmas spirit,” said kiddo Andres.
The night included ornament decorating, trolley rides around downtown, and a book reading by Mrs. Claus.
However, the main event was rescuing Santa from the old City Hall building.
“We’re not sure why Santa gets stuck there every year, but our friends from the fire department will help rescue him from city hall,” Couchene said.
Many children were excited to take photos of Santa after he was rescued to tell him the gifts they want for Christmas.
“To ask for a new hoover board,” said Lyric.
“I honestly just asked him to surprise me with something,” said Luca.
The event also included the lighting of the jumbo Christmas Tree that is in Peace Plaza.
Rochester’s Santa Clause will also be at ABC & Toy Zone from Nov. 27 to Dec. 23, by appointment.
