ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The Rochester man who shot and injured his father last March is changing his plea to guilty.

Colby Cleveland, 19, first pleaded not guilty in May to 2nd degree non-premeditated murder and 2nd degree assault with a dangerous weapon causing substantial bodily harm.

Wednesday morning, Cleveland changed his plea to guilty as part of a plea deal.

As part of the deal, Cleveland is now pleading guilty to 2nd degree assault and 2nd degree dangerous weapon causing substantial bodily harm charges.

Officials said Cleveland shot his 49-year-old father in the leg after a fight about finances. His father sustained non-threatening injuries.

The sentencing is scheduled for January 10, 2022 at 2:30 p.m.
