ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – A breezy, mild Wednesday with ideal travel conditions

We’re enjoying some incredibly mild weather across the region today as a warm air mass lingers in the area just ahead of an approaching cold front. Expect mostly cloudy skies throughout the day with a gusty south breeze pumping that warmth into the area and midday high temperatures will be around 50 degrees. Temperatures will then slowly fall into the 40s in the early afternoon as that cold front pushes through the area. Those unseasonably mild conditions will be felt all day despite the lack of sunshine, but our weather will be dry and ideal for traveling anywhere in the surrounding region. Winds will turn to the northwest behind that front, occasionally gusting to 25 miles per hour and wind chill indices will be in the 30s.

Thanksgiving Day is looking bright, but much colder as high pressure moves toward the Upper Mississippi Valley. We’ll enjoy abundant sunshine throughout the day, but even so, high temperatures will only be in the mid and upper 0s with a raw northwest breeze keeping wind chill values in the teens and lower 20s.

Friday will start with very cold morning temperatures in the teens and wind chills levels will be near zero. A brisk south breeze and occasional rounds of sunshine will help temperatures climb to the mid-30s in the afternoon.

A weak disturbance will move through the area Saturday afternoon, thickening our cloud cover for a time and eventually generating a few light rain showers that may mix with flurries or brief, light snow showers in the late afternoon and early evening, but no accumulation is expected. High temperatures Saturday will be in the upper 30s with a brisk southwest breeze.

We’ll have occasional breaks of sunshine Sunday behind the mid-weekend storm system and high temperatures will be in the seasonably chilly mid-30s with gusty northwest winds adding an extra chill to the air.
