Mild air is once again blowing into the region today on southerly winds as a warm front approaches from the west. After a respite from gusty winds Monday, we’ll be dealing with strong winds today as that front moves in from the Plains. We’ll have plenty of bright sunshine and just some thin, high clouds in the area working with those mild winds to warm temperatures into the mid and upper 40s. It won’t quite feel that warm in most cases, however, as wind chill indices will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s at the very warmest thanks to the strength of those winds.

Temperatures will remain mild tonight as more of that warm air lingers in the area behind the warm front. Clouds will slowly thicken in the overnight hours with a gusty south breeze and overnight low temperatures will be near 40 degrees.

Wednesday will feature more clouds than sunshine, but temperatures will still be rather mild, mainly hovering in the mid and upper 40s through the heart of the day. A cold front will move through the area in the early afternoon so temperatures will begin to slowly fall off, reaching the upper 30s by sunset with brisk northwest winds that will keep wind chill levels in the 30s.

Sunshine will prevail for Thanksgiving Day Thursday in the wake of the cold front, but temperatures will be much colder. Expect high temperatures in the mid-20s with wind chill indices mainly in the teens all day. A raw northwest breeze will reach 25 miles per hour at times.

Warmer air will begin to trickle into the region early Friday and we’ll warm from the mid-teens to the lower 30s during the day with occasional sunshine and a light southwest breeze.

The rest of the holiday weekend is looking blissfully peaceful with sunshine and decent temperatures in store for the area by November standards. Expect high temperatures in the upper 30s for both Saturday and Sunday.
