KASSON, Minn. (KTTC) – The Kasson-Mantorville KoMets practiced for the final time this week at KM Telecom Stadium Wednesday afternoon. Thursday afternoon, they will play in the Class AAAA Semifinals at U.S. Bank Stadium.
K-M is coming off a dominant 42-7 win over Fridley in the state quarterfinals. The KoMets have played their best football of the season in recent weeks, as they’ve won their last three games by a combined score of 129-35.
Thursday, they face top-ranked Becker for the right to play for a state title, and the KoMets are excited for the opportunity.
“It’s what they dream about and stuff,” said K-M Head Coach Joel Swanson. “Have high goals and things, but we’ve been taking it one game at a time. Be 1-0 every week. It’s been great being able to practice with them and we just hope we get another shot at practicing for another week.”
tT get a shot at practicing another week, the KoMets will have to beat top-ranked and undefeated Becker. The Bulldogs are 11-0 this season, but they will have to find a way to stop K-M’s Anthony Moe-Tucker. The senior has scored 10 touchdowns in his last four games -- including six TDs in K-M’s past two games.
Moe-Tucker says the KoMets aren’t afraid to play anybody, not even the number 1 team in the state.
“We’re not really scared of any team that we play” said Moe-Tucker. “We’ll go out there and we’ll play any team that we want, any team that we can, so we’re excited to play. That’s all I can really say.”
