ALMA, Wisc. (KTTC) – A Rochester man has pleaded guilty in the death of a Wisconsin woman a few years ago.

Randall Merrick, 49, was charged in 2020 in the death of Beth Johnson in Alma.

He was initially charged with first-degree intentional homicide, domestic abuse, and hiding a corpse. Now, he has plead guilty to an amended charge of first-degree reckless homicide.

Authorities said Johnson disappeared sometime between December 2016 and March 2017. They believe the two were living together at the time.

Her remains were later found in 2018.

A criminal complaint said a witness told police that Merrick admitted to killing Johnson.

His sentencing hearing will be on February 22, 2022 at 9 a.m.
