ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Two teammates signed to play Division I Basketball today at John Marshall High School.

Lilly Meister and Katie Hurt signed their National Letters of Intent in front of a crowd of family and friends this afternoon.. Hurt signed with the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, while Meister signed with the Indiana Hoosiers.

The pair have produced at a high level for the Rockets for years. Both players started to play on varsity as 7th graders. In 98 games, Meister has averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. Meanwhile, Hurt provides the Rockets with a ball-handler with tremendous court vision. She has averaged 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists per game during her 73 game varsity career.

Meister and Hurt are best friends off the court, and they’re happy they got to share this moment together.

“It’s very cool because not a lot of people are best friends on and off the court,” Hurt said. “She’s one of my closest friends that I’ve had for a long time, since third grade, so it’s really cool to experience this with her because not a lot of people have that bond, especially of being best friends off the court, so it’s really cool.”

The pair are also extremely excited to play at the Division I level, and Meister says she can’t wait for the challenge.

“I am so excited,” said Meister. “Just to be able to play at that level, get the coaching experience, and play with that level of player is just crazy.”
