(AP) — CDC Director Rochelle Walensky issued the final recommendation Tuesday evening, capping off the process and allowing the first shots to be administered by Wednesday morning.

An influential advisory panel recommended Pfizer’s kid-size COVID-19 vaccine for all children ages 5 to 11 earlier in the day.

Pfizer already has begun shipping millions of doses to states, doctors’ offices and pharmacies. Pediatricians are getting ready to put shots into little arms.

The special kid shots contain just a third of the dose given to teens and adults.
