Minn. Dept. of Health issues product advisory for peanut butter brand

ST. PAUL, MN (FOX 47) -- A warning from The Minnesota Department of Health: a salmonella outbreak has sickened almost 400 people in 42 states, including Minnesota.

There is now a product advisory out for King Nut brand creamy peanut butter. Laboratory testing found salmonella in a five-pound container of the peanut butter.

The 30 cases in Minnesota carry the same genetic fingerprint as the national outbreak, but have not yet been linked directly through testing.

The product doesn't appear to be available in grocery stores, but is distributed to long-term care facilities, hospitals, schools, bakeries throughout the state.
