Legislative session starts Tuesday, and not without budget concerns

ST. PAUL, MN (FOX 47) -- The Minnesota Legislature starts Tuesday for its 2009 session - the state budget is job number one.

An economic forecast released last month shows they face a projected deficit of $4.8 billion for the two-year budget period.

By law, lawmakers need to craft a balanced budget.

Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty won't present his budget recommendations until later in the month.

The state Constitution requires this year's session to end by May 18.
