ALBERT LEA, MN (FOX 47) -- Cars continue to get familiar with ditches throughout southeast Minnesota.

We found this pile-up along Interstate 35 in Albert Lea.

The State Patrol is reporting black ice along Interstate 35, and wants to remind drivers to slow down!

At least five cars went into the ditch off 35, about 20 miles north of the Iowa border. Two vehicles even hit two squad cars that were redirecting traffic.

These are pictures of one squad that was hit. A State Trooper was treated and released from the Albert Lea Hospital.

The State Patrol says to be aware of road conditions and temperatures.

Meanwhile, Mn/DOT has been sanding and salting roads throughout the area.

They say as the day continued, the roads have started to dry up, but the bad areas tend to be located in flat, open areas.

Neil Hjelmeland, Mn/DOT Supervisor, says, "If you do go in a ditch, it's important to stay in the vehicle. You know, if you went into the ditch because it's slippery, chances are there could be another car coming right behind you that, you know, may lose control also."

There were citizens in the back seat of both squad cars that were hit.

One was treated and released for non life-threatening injuries at the Albert Lea Hospital.
