The first baby of 2009

ROCHESTER, MN (FOX 47) -- Rochester's first new born of the year has arrived. It happened at 6:14 Thursday morning at Methodist Hospital.

The baby is the first girl for Julie and Jeremy Lee. They named the 8 pounds and 3 ounces girl Kya Eve Lee. The middle name Eve represents New Year's Eve.

Julie did have to go into surgery for a C-section since Kya was in a breached position. Mom and baby are doing fine, just a little tired.

"We had, of course, a doctor's appointment about a week ago, and everything was fine, she was positioned fine. And when they did the ultrasound last night, they found out, you know, that she had flipped around," explains Jeremy.

The name Kya follows the trend of her two older brothers' names: Kasey and Kolten.
