Mn/DOT issues a no travel advisory

ROCHESTER, MN (KTTC TV) -- We certainly aren't dreaming of a white Christmas this year - we're living it.

The snow might be pretty - but its wreaking havoc on area roads.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has issued a no travel advisory for southeast Minnesota.

Heavy snowfall and and gusting winds means extremely poor driving conditions.

Winds are increasing - and are causing white-out conditions in many areas.

MnDOT snowplows are out - but no highway road closures are expected at this time.

That could change if the weather gets worse.

And just a quick reminder from MnDOT if you have to drive this weekend.

Always buckle up, and avoid using cruise-control.

Turn on your headlights.

And of course - slow down!

For updated weather information, call 511.

Practicing good driving could prevent an accident.

A driver e-mailed us this picture of a semi-truck jack-knifed on Highway 52 near the Wanimingo exit.

The accident happened Saturday around noon.

No word on any injuries.
