MN board recount session: Watch Live!

ST. PAUL, MN (AP) -- The special board that is ruling on challenged ballots in Minnesota's Senate recount will start with the challenges by Democrat Al Franken.

The canvassing board was to start its work at noon on Tuesday by looking at 436 challenges from the Franken campaign. CLICK HERE TO WATCH LIVE.

Republican Norm Coleman has about 980 challenges after his campaign worked late into the night to reduce the number. But his aren't expected to be heard until Wednesday because the Secretary of State's office hasn't had time to separate Coleman's remaining challenges from the withdrawals.

One point to watch is how much time the board gives each campaign to argue the challenges. The board hopes to finish this stage of the recount by Friday.

The incumbent Coleman held a 188-vote lead pending the board's action on challenged ballots. But the challenges aren't the only big issue outstanding. Absentee ballots that were rejected incorrectly may still be added to the count.
