Fire takes life of Kenyon man

KENYON, MN (FOX 47) -- A Kenyon man is dead after fire swept through his apartment.

Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, police, fire and ambulance crews were called to a structure fire at 730 2nd Street in Kenyon.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy black smoke.

As tenants evacuated, all but one tenant was accounted for.

An officer tried to go back in but the smoke was too thick.

After the fire was under control, the body of an adult male was found in a main floor apartment.

His body was taken to the Coroner's Office for further investigation.

No foul play is suspected.

The other tenant's were offered assistance through Red Cross and some are finding place to stay on their own.
