Postville plant could reopen this week

POSTVILLE, IA (FOX 47) -- Last week, Postville, Iowa's meatpacking plant closed.

On Saturday, there was a new development - officials say that plant could reopen by next week.

A court-appointed receiver for Agriprocessors Incorporated says the company has no revenue coming in to feed hundreds of thousands of chickens, which will soon be too old to slaughter.

Now, a lender has agreed to finance a three-week operations budget, pending court approval Monday.

Returning employees will receive their back pay and have a job. The company had been run by the Rubashkin family of New York.

Sholom Rubashkin has since pleaded not guilty to federal immigration charges.
