Planes will soon be landing in Eyota

EYOTA, MN (FOX 47) -- Attention flyers - Eyota is now open for landing.

This 2,000 foot runway known as the Thomas Field Airport in Eyota is privately owned, but now it will be open for public use.

The airport is owned by Robert Thomas, an old Air Force pilot who says he owns and flies several planes.

Thomas says the airport was licensed for public use by MnDOT last Spring.

The FAA also has allowed the switch, but it says that if a new ethanol plant is built next to the airport, some restrictions would be enforced on the height of any grain elevators.
