Family, friends continue to grieve for mom, son killed in weekend stabbing

DODGE CENTER, MN (FOX 47) -- Family and friends continue to grieve over the loss of 12-year-old Ismael Bugarin and his mother, 27-year-old Teresa Bugarin.

The two were killed on Saturday night in what Dodge County Sheriff Gary Thompson is calling a domestic disturbance.

A memorial now sits just outside of the Bugarin home, the scene of a tragedy that took the lives of 27-year-old Teresa and her 12-year-old son Nick.

Gary Thompson, Dodge County Sheriff, says, "You know I've said this before, but this one took a pretty good toll on me. You know you've got kids involved and you know that should not have happened - you know, there's no reason for that to happen."

Authorities were called to the Bugarin home on Saturday night around 6:30. There they found the three children with stab wounds. Police found the children's father inside the home with life-threatening wounds, as well as the body of their mother. Authorities say they are not searching for any other suspects and are calling the 33-year-old father Isamel Bugarin a person of interest.

Thompson says, "We have not been able to talk to him, his medical condition won't allow that just yet."

"It's devastating, it's devastating for the community."

Margaret Hedberg didn't know the family, but came by today to pay her respects.

Hedberg says, "This little community, these people around here, they are never going to forget this."

Authorities say they don't know the motive behind the incident and many questions remain unanswered.

"We are in shock, we are in shock and our hearts are breaking."

A fund has been set up to help the Bugarin family with funeral and medical expenses.

You can go to any Wells Fargo and make a donation to The Bugarin Family Benefit Fund.

The three other family members remain hospitalized Monday evening.

We're told that 33-year-old Ismael Bugarin is in serious condition and his two daughters, Sabrina and Jasmine, remain in good condition.
