When Obama came to visit

ROCHESTER, MN (FOX 47) -- President-elect Barack Obama did not make it to Rochester during his campaign this year.  But he might have jump-started his campaign two years ago while speaking for some of his fellow Democrats in the Med-City.

In case you missed it, Barack Obama spoke to a sea of fans in Chicago after Tuesday's election.

Obama, almost two years ago to the day, signed autographs at the Rochester Mayo Civic Center.

A lot has changed in two years, Obama's celebrity is not one of them.

It was the last time Obama visited Rochester. He was campaigning for soon-to-be Congressman Tim Walz and Senator Amy Klobuchar.

Obama said to the crowd, "Your candidates get me fired up."

Senator Amy Klobuchar said, "Barack Obama is probably the best messenger that we could have to come and talk about hope."

Congressman Walz said, "He was defining what it ment to be a Democrat for many of us out there who wanted to hear that. Who wanted to hear what our core beliefs were, that government is the best extension of what we do together."

He was once a first-term Senator campaigning for the party.

Obama said, "It's about candidates, and it's about issues, but it's also about that faith, that belief, that we can do something about the problems that we face."

Now the next president of the United States.  A lot can change in two years.
