Races in Rochester

ROCHESTER, MN (FOX 47) -- We all know about the close race between Senator Norm Coleman and Al Franken, but there are also some city and county races we are keeping a close watch on as well.

After Tuesday night, the Rochester School Board, Rochester City Council and Olmsted County Board of Commissioners could look very different.

In total there are thirteen candidates vying for a seat on the Rochester School Board.

There is close to that many people running for Olmsted County Board of Commissioners.

In total there are eleven candidates on the ballot, with just four seats to fill.

In the race for Rochester City Council there are four seats to fill.

Running in the second ward is incumbent Marcia Marcoux and Michael Wojcik.

Running in the Fourth Ward is incumbent Pat Carr as well as Mark Bilderback and in the Sixth Ward is incumbent Sandra Means and Gary Smith.

One race we've taken a closer look at is the seat for City Council President with incumbent Dennis Hanson facing off against Renee Kragnes.

When we sat down with them some of the main issues they focused on are the Washington Village Project, crime and transportation.

Kragnes has lived in Rochester for the last 25 years, but this is her first attempt at a city office.

Hanson has served on the Rochester City Council for the last ten years and has served as president for the last four.
