The Hotdish -- overseas

ROCHESTER, MN (FOX 47) -- Hungry kids all around the world will soon have full bellies, thanks to some Rochester churches.

The event was sponsored by "Kids Against Hunger," a group from Stewart, Minnesota.

The event began early Saturday morning at Bethel Lutheran where volunteers worked in shifts to fill the food packets.

Jobs included unloading the semi-truck and filling, weighing, and then sealing the bags.
David Turner, a volunteer, says, "A Kids Against Hunger meal packet, and it's fortified with all the vitamins children need and adults need. It's a chicken, vegetable casserole-type dish that you heat up and it's very tasty, it's very good."

Volunteers hope to make 150,000 meals Saturday, and have them shipped anywhere in the world.

This was the second year Bethel Lutheran held the event, and organizers say it's a great way for children to get involved in their community.
