IBM receives wildlife habitat certification

Posted: Updated:

ROCHESTER, MN (FOX 47) -- The IBM Rochester site had something to celebrate on Wednesday.

The site has received the distinction of being certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council for its "Wildlife at Work" program.

"Wildlife at Work" is working to make the nearly 200 acres of undeveloped land that surrounds the big blue building into wildfire habitat.

Some of the projects they've been working on include a butterfly prairie plot, bluebird houses and native prairie restoration.

IBM employees have played a key part in the active management of the habitat improvements.
