Unique musical opens in Austin Wednesday night

AUSTIN, MN (FOX 47) -- A unique musical debuts Wednesday evening at Riverland Community College in Austin.

"The Last Five Years" is a contemporary musical featuring two former Riverland students who are now local singers and actors.

It's a unique love story, in that the two characters appear in only one scene together. They are otherwise separated on stage by a stream of lights.

The cast and crew has been working very hard and is anxious for the debut.

Jerry Girten, director of the musical, says, "It's a two-person show and they've been working very hard on it, they each have seven songs, and it revolves back and forth, so yes we're very excited about tonight."

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and runs through Saturday, October 25th.

Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased at the Frank W. Bridges Theater box office, located on the east side of the Austin Campus.

All proceeds go to the Riverland Theater and Music Scholarships fund.
