An event especially for young women

ROCHESTER, MN (FOX 47) -- Some young women got a chance to expand their horizons on Saturday at the Young Women's Forum.

RCTC, along with Rochester Public Schools, hosted the forum.

It gives girls, grades six through twelve, a chance to talk about those sometimes difficult issues they will face.

The day started out with a keynote address about Breast Cancer Awareness, and then split into small groups that focused on different topics, such as career discovery, leadership, health and fitness.

Zelda Collins-Moore, Forum Organizer, says, "I think it's important because we have to help empower our young girls. To learn how to be leaders, to learn strategies to move on to the next level from high school."

Organizers say this will now become an annual event.
