Where are all the pumpkins?

ROCHESTER, MN (KTTC-TV) -- Halloween is a little over a month away, but if you're planning on seeing lots of pumpkins, think again.

Growers say this year numbers are down thanks to the cool, wet spring we experienced.

Fred Kappauf of Sekapp Orchard said the crop is a little below average compared to other years and some growers he's spoken with have about half their usual crop.

Kappauf says, "Yea it was cold and wet this spring so there was a lot of germination problems. I know some growers had to replant because the seed rotted in the ground."

Kappauf says the middle of October is the best time to get pumpkins, but because of the slow start to the season numbers could be low by then.
