Minnesota Orchestra concertmaster Jorja Fleezanis to leave

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The concertmaster for the Minnesota Orchestra says she's leaving at the end of this season to teach violin and orchestral studies for a prestigious program at Indiana University.

Jorja Fleezanis has been the Minnesota Orchestra's leader for 20 seasons. She's the longest-tenured concertmaster in the orchestra's history, and was its first female concertmaster.

Fleezanis says she'll teach at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music starting next fall.

The 56-year-old Fleezanis says she's indebted to her Minnesota Orchestra colleagues for their artistry, camaraderie and dedication.

Her final appearances as concertmaster will be June 11-13 in Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis" with Music Director Osmo Vanska.
