Primary 101

ROCHESTER, MN (FOX 47) -- Even though Tuesday is the State Primary Election, not a lot of people know much about it.

So here's your Primer on the Primary - answers to some basic questions you might have.

First of all, it's a state-wide primary election, and no matter where you live in Minnesota, there will be names on your ballot.

It's all about narrowing the field for the General Election in November.

If you are a registered voter, you can vote in the Primary at your designated polling place.

The League of Women Voters has made it easy for you to find out where your polling place is, and who is on the ballot where you live.

We have created a link to the League's election search engine right here at

Just put in your zip code, then your street address, and it will do the work for you!

A few other things: polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

You can register to vote right at the polling place with identification, such as a Minnesota driver's license, and proof of where you live.
