City Council will discuss Whiskey Bones Wednesday night

ROCHESTER, MN (FOX 47) -- Whiskey Bones owner Todd Powers will appear before the Rochester City Council once again at Wednesday night's meeting. His liquor license is in question.

So, just how does a bar like Whiskey Bones obtain a license to begin with?

We turned to Rochester City Attorney Terry Adkins for the answer, and found that bar owners must obtain a license from the city and have it approved by the state.

In the case of Whiskey Bones, the City Council does have the power to revoke that license.

Terry Adkins says, "The councils made it clear, they don't want to shut down businesses, they don't want to revoke or suspend liquor licenses and that's why they've used probation hoping that these bar owners can resolve these problems.

Whiskey Bones owner Todd Powers had been put on a 30-day probation period.
