Senator Tina Smith, Congressional candidate Dan Feehan campaign in Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -

Just two days before voters head to the polls in the primary, candidates aren't slowing down.

U.S. Senator Tina Smith, who's also running for that same seat in a special election, made a visit to Rochester's DFL office Sunday.

She spoke with volunteers before they headed out for a day of door-knocking in support of 1st Congressional District Candidate Dan Feehan.

Both Smith and Feehan say they hear a lot of concerns from people about health care and wages.

They say sometimes the biggest hurdle is convincing people to be less skeptical of politics.

"How can you help them lower the costs of their prescription drugs, how can we make career and technical education more available, what do we need to do to expand options for childcare, then people shed their cynicism and they really want to know how can I be involved," Smith said.

"People are very interested in tackling the challenges that they face," Feehan said. "Whether that's healthcare, whether it's their wages, whether it's the cost of education, people have challenges that they struggle with every day they want to know how you're actually going to solve those things."

Smith is running to continue on finishing Senator Al Franken's term for the next two years.

Feehan is trying to replace Tim Walz's seat in congress.

He's been endorsed by the DFL.
