Walz visits Rochester before big primary on Tuesday

Primary season is heating up in Minnesota, and the southeastern corner of the state is getting noticed.  Gubernatorial candidate Tim Walz paid a visit to Rochester Saturday to encourage people to make their voices heard in Tuesday's primaries.

Walz and running mate Peggy Flanagan kicked off their Weekend of Action to get out the vote for Tuesday's primary.  The two candidates met supporters at IBEW for a rally.  Walz and Flanagan explained why they were the best candidates for Minnesota and what the most important issues were to their campaign.  Walz says his biggest accomplishment has been giving a voice to the common people.

"I think out here, showing people that their voice matters and to understand that they built this campaign from the ground up," the gubernatorial candidate explains, "The idea that you're going to run for governor and energize people across this state started here in the first congressional district.  It's no secret that a lot of the folks standing here today were instrumental with me as far back as 2005 to give a different voice in Congress and I think it's important to come out here today.  First of all, for me to thank them for the privilege of representing them, but the privilege that we have built this campaign on southern Minnesota values."

Walz and Flanagan also rallied supporters in Mankato and St. Louis Park.  They're up against State Representative Erin Murphy and Attorney General Lori Swanson in Tuesday's primary.
