UPDATE: Initial call came from Olmsted County, missing kayakers found in Wabasha

WABASHA, Minn. (KTTC) -

UPDATE - The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office reports the initial call for help came from Olmsted County.

A 24-year-old woman called around 2:30 a.m. to report she had not heard from her 19-year-old sister or 49-year-old father since 8:30 p.m.

She says they had been fishing from Halfmoon Landing and got lost in the backwaters. Searchers in Wabasha County found the pair around 4 a.m.

Wabasha County Chief Deputy Jim Warren says the father and daughter were dealing with exhaustion and bug bites but will be o.k.


ORIGINAL STORY - A search on the Mississippi River is now over after two missing kayakers were found early Thursday morning.

Wabasha County Sheriff's Office says the kayakers went missing sometime Wednesday night.

Both kayakers were found alive. 

The sheriff's office says officials were originally searching for them south of Wabasha.

KTTC crews are at the scene and will provide more updates as they become available.
