Tracking showers on a rainy Friday

(KTTC) -

The cold front that is providing us with a break from intense heat and oppressive humidity today is also acting as the focus for showers and thunderstorms, so today's weather picture is looking mostly gray and unsettled.

Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms for the early part of the day with a lull in the activity late in the morning through early afternoon when a few sprinkles will be possible. More widespread thunderstorms will be possible in the afternoon to early evening hours along and behind that front.

With limited sunshine at times today, high temperatures will be in the lower 80's with a light breeze.

A few spotty showers will be possible Saturday, especially on the Iowa side of the border locally as the cold front continues to slowly push southward. We'll have bright sunshine through much of the day and high temperatures will be in the lower 80's.

Sunday looks warm and humid with some sunshine before scattered thunderstorms develop late in the day ahead of a stronger cold front. We'll have afternoon high temperatures in the mid 80's to round out the weekend.

High pressure from Canada will slide in from the northwest for next week, bringing sunnier, cooler, less humid weather. Look for high temperatures in the upper 70's all week and just small chance of scattered showers late Wednesday and for Thursday.
