Two arrested after bringing 9 ounces of cocaine from Chicago

Two men making a day trip to Chicago were stopped by police before they could bring a payload of nine ounces of cocaine into Rochester.

The arrests on Wednesday evening culminate an investigation that was underway since May.

30-year-old Kendrick Collins has a history of drug sale convictions going back further than a decade.

40-year-old Aaron Brown was arrested with him when the two were stopped near the I-90 and Highway 52 intersection.

Both men are from Rochester, and were stopped in a 2015 Lincoln Continental on their way back into the city.

The criminal interdiction unit had obtained a warrant for Collins' residence, vehicle and person before he left town to pick up the coke.

Shortly after the arrest, officers searched a trailer at 1915 Marion Road Southeast to find a few more grams of coke, as well as six grams of heroin.

Another address in the 1900 block of 8 1/2 Street Southeast just a couple miles away was searched, and turned up $23,000 in cash that was seized by police.

The resident, who knows Collins, said they had no idea the money was there.

Both Collins and Brown are looking at charges 1st degree controlled substance sales and importing drugs across state borders. The drugs are estimated to have a street value at around $40,000.
