Man responds to classified ad for his stolen racing bicycle

A man took things into his own hands when his expensive racing bike was stolen.

Rochester police say a man stopped by the Kwik Trip at 3rd Avenue and 12th Street Southeast late Monday morning. He left his $5,000 Italian racing bike outside while he got something to drink. When he came out of the store, his bike was gone.

When he saw it listed for sale, he set up a test ride.

The man said he arranged to meet 19-year-old Brian Morgan in a parking lot in Southwest Rochester.

He alerted police and officers confronted and arrested Morgan.

Police say Morgan was not the man shown taking the bike on surveillance video. He refused to reveal who had given him the bike.

He faces charges of possession of stolen property and underage consumption of alcohol.
