1 injured in Highway 14 crash


A two-car crash in Byron this evening sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries. 

Minnesota State Patrol says it happened this evening at about 7:35 at the intersection of Highway 14 and Olmsted Co Rd 3. 

Marie Mae Otterson, 18, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 14 attempting to turn onto northbound Co Rd 3.

Chelsey Rose Haugen, 18, was driving westbound on Hwy 14. Otterson failed to yield right of way and collided with Haugen who had two other passengers in her vehicle. 

State Patrol says a 46-year-old Jason Phillip Chilson of Pine Island who was traveling with Haugen was taken to St. Marys Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Alcohol was not a factor in this collision. Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt. 

Gold Cross, Minnesota State Patrol, Olmsted County Sheriff, Byron Fire Department responded to the scene.
