PREVIOUS STORY: A car crash near Harmony claims the life of a man Tuesday afternoon.

The state patrol is still working through the information they gathered at the scene.

What they've pieced together so far is the driver of a Plymouth Sundance, a 23-year-old from Austin, was going south when his car crossed into the north-bound lane about 1:13 p.m.

A milk truck was traveling north and tried to avoid the Sundance but ultimately struck it on the north-bound shoulder

The driver of the milk truck, a 40 year old from Preston, was uninjured but the driver of the Sundance was killed on scene.

According to Sergeant Troy Christianson with the Minnesota State Patrol, this is the deadliest in a list of crashes that happened all across southeast Minnesota Tuesday.

"Right now [the cause is] part of the active investigation, so we're going to have to speak to some witnesses of driving conduct and also speak with the driver of the milk truck," Christianson said. "But today we've actually had a lot of crashes but nothing as bad as this crash that we're on scene right now."

The cleanup effort lasted a few hours as debris littered the scene.

Highway 52 was closed until shortly after 6 o'clock

According to the State Patrol website, we can expect more information Wednesday morning.
