UPDATE: State Patrol details deadly crash near Kenyon


UPDATE:  We are learning more about a deadly crash near Kenyon Tuesday morning that involved a semi-truck and a car.

The crash happened just after 10:15 a.m. about four and a half miles west of Kenyon on Highway 60 near Jenkins Avenue.

According to the state patrol, a red 2007 Ford 500 sedan was traveling west towards Faribault while a 2015 Mack semi was traveling eastbound towards Kenyon.

The sedan crossed the center line hitting the semi head-on.

After colliding, both vehicles ended up in the ditch on the north side of the road.

The driver of the semi, 42 year old Allen Patrin of Zumbrota, was not injured.

The driver of the car, a 61 year old man from Kenyon, died at the scene.

"We are making family notifications of the deceased so we won't release a name or anything until after we've completed that," said Sgt. Troy Christianson of the Minnesota State Patrol. 

That section of Highway 60 was closed for several hours so state patrol crews could investigate and clean up the scene. 

The Rice County Sheriffs office, Kenyon First Responders, North Memorial Ambulance, and MNDOT assisted. 

At this time, it is not yet known what other factors played a role in the crash. 


UPDATE: Emergency crews are on scene after a crash near Kenyon turns fatal.

According to Minnesota State Patrol, one person has died in the crash. State Patrol also said there were two people involved in the accident. The driver of the red car and the semi driver. The driver of the car is the one who has died.

Traffic is being rerouted due to the crash and will continue until later Tuesday.

According to our reporter on scene, a red car and a semi were involved in the accident. There is no report of any injuries so far.
