One person injured after falling into grain bin

NEAR CONGER, Minn. (KTTC) -

One man is in the hospital after falling into a grain bin.

The accident took place Friday morning around 9:35 a.m. at 66875 180th St. near Conger, Minnesota. According to the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office, 60-year-old Charles Majerus, of Alden, fell approximately 70 feet to the bottom of a grain bin. The sheriff's office says Majerus had been doing some work in the upper portion of the bin when he fell.

At this time, the structure Majerus was standing on broke, causing him to fall. At the bottom of the grain bin was three feet of beans.

Medical and rescue personnel were able to remove Majerus from the bin and he was transported to Mayo Clinic - St. Mary’s by Mayo Air Ambulance. The extent of Majerus’ injuries are unknown at this time.

Agencies assisting at the scene were the Conger Fire Department, Albert Lea Fire Department, MN State Patrol, Mayo Air Ambulance and the Gold Cross Ambulance Service.
